MCS Rental Software

UX | UI | System Design

MCS-rm rental software gives you full control of your hire business, improves performance and helps your business grow.

MCS already had a system in place, however, it was very clunky with a painful user experience and an outdated user interface.

I was tasked with approaching the user experience with bird’s-eye view of users’ interactions. Since the products launch MCS have rolled out the Design system on many of their other platforms.

You can read about the redesign’s success here.

Initial Discovery

I began with an Holistic approach to the system that MCS had in place. I spent alot of time in meetings with the MCS team over Zoom in order to discover more about the software and what goals the business was trying to achieve. I spent time finding out the common pain points from MCS’s users and used the system with some task based scenarios. I broke down this process with a series of mini design sprints.

It was evident that the system could be cut by 60% with some clever UI design, which would overall improve the User Experience and customer journey.

UI Design.

The UI Design was a tricky one as the users and stakeholders wanted some familiarity. I broke everything down into components for ease of use and kept the existing colour scheme. I designed an overall user interface that performed well but kept the elements that the users enjoyed about the existing product.

Design System and Component building

I documented the project within a component driven design system. Using the Brad Frost Atomic Design approach I captured the HTML, Sass and Vue code for easier documentation

It was evident that the system could be cut by 60% with some clever UI design, which would overall improve the User Experience and customer journey.
